RISE UP CUP TOURNAMENT 2026
The Rise Up Cup Tournament is an OMHA sanctioned tournament (30842) and will be
played under OMHA rules. Mouthguards are required in ALL divisions. Note(s):
This is a mixed aged tournament. There are no minor or major divisions. All
players must be on approved roster.
FOUR GAMES guaranteed over the course of the tournament.

Game Time Rules
All teams must be registered by an official 1 hour prior to the start of their first game and
a copy of their teams Approved Roster (AR) and Travel Permit (TP) must be received 1
week prior to the tournament.
One staff member (listed on the AR) is required to act as the Team’s Official, which is
declared right from the beginning of the tournament.
Special note: this is the person used
in tournament grievances, which are to be dealt with 1-on-1 with the Tournament
Director (or his Designate). If an official is not specified, this role will automatically be
assigned to the head coach on the AR.
It is the responsibility of the Head Coach to register his team and have all of the bench
staff sign the game sheet 30 MINUTES prior to the game
Tournament Executives hold the right to off-set game times prior to the start of any game
by
20 minutes ahead or behind the schedule.
Game Sheets / Time Clock
All game sheets will be electronic game sheets when playing at the MSC.
All game sheets must be properly filled out.
Suspensions must be listed on each and every game sheet filled out.
The MTMHA will provide a timekeeper and score sheet person, however, in such a case
that one cannot be provided, the home team is responsible to provide coverage for that
game.
Game Rules, Period Lengths and Flooding
There will be a flood prior to each game.
There will be a 2-minute warm up allowed prior to each game.
Warm up will start when the 1st player of either team is on the ice.
U15
All U15 games will be one 10 minute and two 15 minute STOP TIME periods (10-15-
15), unless Mercy Rule applies. Round robin games may end in a tie
MERCY RULE
At any time, if a team is leading by 5 goals, the remaining time shall be run time (no
stoppage at whistles). Should the lead be reduced to less than 5 goals after the mercy rule
has been called, the clock will go back to STOP TIME; unless the lead has reached 5
goals again, in which case the mercy rule re-applies.
One 30 second time out allowed for all divisions in consolation or final games.
Standings
Standings will be calculated by 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a
loss.
Round Robin Tie Breaking Format
1) Total points
2) Head to head (if these 2 teams have played)
3) Goals for/against differential
4) Coin toss
Semi Final & Final Games – Tie Break Format
Teams will play a 5 minute RUN TIME Sudden Death OT period
4 on 4 format
Penalties from regulation time will carry over
Note(s)
The team on the PP will have an extra man advantage (4 on 3) until penalty expires.
If there is still a tie after the 5 minute OT, an NHL-style shootout will take place:
Each team will choose 3 players to shoot at the end of the OT.
Each team will alternate shooters with the home team choosing to shoot first or second.
If tie still persists, teams go shooter-for-shooter until a winner is declared.
No player shall shoot twice unless the whole team has shot.
Terms and Conditions
All teams participating shall be responsible for their own insurance coverage.
All Referee(s), Tournament Director, Tournament Executive or Delegate’s decisions are
final (only team official may protest).
The Tournament Director solely reserves the right to:
-make decisions that are perceived to be in the best interests of the tournament
-to stop any game, at any time, if deemed necessary
Any game suspensions received in the tournament will be served in the tournament.
OMHA rules apply and all referees’ decisions on the ice are final (ie. Any game
suspensions must be fully served through all subsequent games including next league
games and league or OMHA playoff games).
All major fighting penalties will result in expulsion from the tournament.
No body checking allowed.
All teams shake hands before the start of each game (as per OMHA rules).
Each team must bring two (2) sets of jerseys of contrasting colours.
Home team will be
designated to wear light coloured jerseys.
Away team will be designated to wear dark
coloured jerseys.
Teams will be responsible for any
damage to the dressing rooms and other arena
facilities. Please report any damage to the Tournament Officials before using the dressing
room.
All players must use CSA approved equipment including mouth guards.
