Season Update #1: The Short Bench
We are a few games into the season with some real positive highlights despite coming up short on the scoreboard lately.  Of the teams played so far, the coaching staff believes with more practice, endurance and positional play, we could beat them all.

With a short bench it is vitally important to expend energy on the ice in the right manner by being in the right position and making the right moves to put yourself in the right position.  It is also vitally important to be game ready, which brings up the topic of hydration.  After researching a few articles the consensus feeling by experts in the field is to follow some simple rules...  The 2-3 and 1-2 rule.  Experts prescribe that 2-3 hours before an activity that athletes consume 2-3 cups of water, then consume 1-2 cups of water 1-2 hours before activity.  During activity, athletes should consume water continuously, not in vast amounts, but a mouthful or two following each shift is likely appropriate.  A couple other interesting facts are that if you wait to consume water when you feel thirsty, you are likely already in some minor dehydration mode.  Experts also suggest that consuming sports drinks is only necessary for those whose activity will last greater than an hour.
