U11A MUDCATS ARE HLL CHAMPIONS!
Mudcat Nation,
A full Saturday of Dunnville chances for Championship trophies started just after 10am to a packed barn in Glanbrook where season rivals, the Hagersville Hawks took the Away bench against our first place finishing MUDCATS.
A tight checking 1st period produced a power play for each team and some good chances but no scoring. The Refs put the whistles away in the 2nd as each team continued to battle up and down the boards unable to get to great scoring areas as both defenses were stalwart.
With tension mounting in the third the HAWKS seemed to be getting an edge in play and were starting to assert their will in the Dunnville zone.
Two successive 10 Bell saves off open Hagersville players by young MAGRIN brought the fans to their feet and the turning of the tide against the HAWKS onslaught.
Now the MUDCATS were relentless and had Hagersville on their heels. Finally at 4:24 of the 3rd everything paid off with a UYEN goal and fans blew the roof off the building. With the ice tilted north, not 27 seconds later MEINDERSMA sealed the deal on a feed from DRENTH.
UYEN's goal and MAGRIN's Shutout, was all that was needed, as after that, Hagersville could never get enough wind in their sails to get out of their zone with relentless MUDCATS stopping all efforts.
Congrats to the U11A HLL Champion Players, Coach Kyle MAGRIN and his staff. Well done and a great start to the day for Dunnville.
