Membership,
Over the past week or so, the minor hockey associations in Caledonia, Cayuga, and Dunnville held membership votes on the proposal to amalgamate the Rep programs of the three centres together. The results are in and we are excited to announce that we were able to reach the two-thirds-in-favour threshold needed in each centre in order to approve the proposal and to move forward with the process.
A lot of work has gone into this venture already but the process has really just begun. We now seek approval from the OMHA for our new association sometime early in 2022.
One of the things we will need is a name for the new association and for that we are looking to our members for some input. For example, the Lower Grand Minor Hockey Association. If you have an idea/suggestion for the name of the new association, please contact
Mark McCormack or
Rob Lutes to have it considered at a future meeting of the partnership/amalgamation committee..
Next Steps:
-The proposal is submitted to the OMHA for approval.
-If approved, early in 2022, the executive of the new association will be elected from each of the local centres.
-Executive meetings of the new association will take place soon after to fill roles and to begin planning for the upcoming season.
-The coach selection process will follow, looking toward team tryouts in the Spring of 2022.
Thank-you for your continued support in this endeavour and stay tuned for more information as we move forward with the approval process.
