PeeWee Rep - 2012 Starts With 1 and 1 – and a Great Effort in Both
Submitted By Sherry Gifford on Saturday, January 07, 2012
January 2 – Port Colborne B

Riley R serving game 3 of 3 and Mitch serving game 2 of 2.  Two men short means for a long and tiring game for everyone.  A lot of back and forth between ends means everyone is skating hard.  Port takes 2 minutes elbowing at 4:07 and Dunnville scores at 3:57 by Jacob J on pass from Shayne and Ryan.   First ends 1-0 Dunnville.  Brad and a Port player take 2 minutes each for roughing at 13:09 in the second.  Port scores goal one at 11:53 on a bad play.  Ethan, Dakota, Jake G all have good opportunities.  Dunnville puts second goal on the board at 9:38 when Jacob G puts a pass behind the Port net to Ethan who wraps it into the net.  Port scores tying goal at 3:49 in the second by shoving the puck and every player into the net.  Third period starts with a 2-2 tie.  Nathan takes two for high sticking at 11:33 and Port scores goal three at 10:17.  Port puts Dunnville on the power play with 2 minutes roughing 9:37 and 2 minutes cross checking 4:52.  Dakota, Brad, Jacob J all have great opportunities but no luck.  On the last shift of the power play, Nathan, Shayne, Jacob J, Erick  all get shots on net but can’t put it in.  Ryan holds the blue line to keep these shots happening.  Ethan, Easton and Jacob J make a great effort with Riley M and Nathan holding the blue line, but again – NO LUCK!!  Valliant effort by a very tired bunch of players.

January 5 – West Lincoln (Smithville) CC –

Jacob G says the theme for this game was “Do you know the enemy?” by Green Day.  Do you know the enemy?  Do you know your enemy?  Well, gotta know the enemy.   This is the first time playing Smithville since the game October 21st where Mr. Butler was given a game suspension for too many minutes in penalties.  Only six minutes this game!!  Way to go and Dunnville plays with a full roster too.  Smithville starts the penalties with four for head check at 9:11 in the first.    Smithville also scores in the first on a wrap around that they tuck past Brennen’s skate.  Ethan gets a break away but can’t get a shot off.  Easton gives a Smithville player a great check and Ethan gets another shot at the net.  Second sees Mitch take two for interference and the penalty is killed.  Ethan, Erik and Jacob J have a great shift controlling the puck the whole time.  Awesome plays in front of net setting each other up but no luck.  Erik makes a great recovery by streaking back to stop a Smithville drive.  Brad gets cross checked from behind in front of the Smithville net and Smithville gets a two minute minor.  Second ends still 1-0 Smithville thanks to some great D.  Third period starts out and Easton, Jacob J and Ethan dominate the ice again.  Smithville goalie throws his stick to stop a drive and a penalty shot is called.  Ethan takes the shot, but no luck.  Third period starts getting a little chippy.  Dakota makes a quick change and Riley R steps on the ice to pick up a pass from Ryan and flies at the Smithville net and pops it in.  1-1  Mitch fires off a shot and Smithville carry back to our end.  Brennen makes an awesome save.  Next Smithville drive sees Nathan making a great poke check and holding them up.  Dunnville drives Smithville net again and a great effort by Brad, Jacob G and Dakota gain Brad what ends up being the winning goal.  Goal three is scored only seconds later with Ryan sending a pass up to Jacob J who takes a shot and Shayne pops up the rebound to send it in.    Goal four has Ethan carrying the puck up for a great effort, Erick gets the rebound and sends it back to Ethan who tries again, but another rebound is poked in by Easton.  Great effort guys.  Riley and Jacob J make several tries, then Ethan, Easton and Eric again make an effort but no luck.  Game ends 4-1.
